The last sun has set over the San Saba Territories, and the night ahead looms large and long. Our upcoming vignette event, ”In The Woods” is four (1.5 hour) mods long and lasts from 11am to about 8pm on Saturday January 21st 2023.
Check out the mod descriptions below for each act of this event. Each module has 5 seats, and each attendee may register for a seat on 2 of the 4 mods overall. During the 2 mods that you’re not a featured character in, your LC may still influence the resolution of the module by participating in the b-plot.

Lonestar Skies: The Certainty of Tides
Five months ago the San Saba Board signed itself into existence. An alliance of powerful personalities and factions from across the Lonestar Wastes; these hegemonic powers reinforce one another’s right and rule as a matter of contract. The Junkerpunks; a dynamic group of high-octane tradesfolk whose surf (and turf) are the wavy or winding routes that make up the skeleton of the San Saba’s domestic trade, were the only major financial identity in the Lonestar to find themselves without membership on the San Saba Board.
In the months following the inception of The Board, charters for Junkerpunk sailing vessels have dried up. JP ports, previously cramped with cargo, are now largely vacant. And their sailing crews, lifetime seafolk, are listless and drinking away their melancholy at port. It seems that, without a meaningful contract to the largest trade identity in the San Saba, the Junkerpunks may not be able to stay afloat.
And so, in a dramatic and characteristic fashion, the Grand Admiral Sinker Swim enacted a huge fucking heist, broke into the radio station that sits at the top of the tallest tower in Waking Prime, and played a prerecorded tape that found its way onto every radio band the entire Lonetsar Wastes over - and Sinker Swim let every Junkerpunk know in no uncertain terms that there’s a big fucking problem - and a big fucking party to be had about it.
Now, several weeks later in The Clutch, the party looms afore you in splendid Junkerpunk style; the streets of the port city are brightly lit with preserved-fish lanterns, burning eerily too-orange thanks to the distilled Leviathan blood that fuels them - and the air is thick with the salty scent of preserved meat and sea air and fireworks. Grand Admiral Sinker Swim may not be able to command the Junkerpunks and underdogs of the wastes to action with explicit authority, but they can certainly ensure the attendance of every hooch-fiend in the San Saba with enough booze.
The only question that remains - is what does Sinker truly want with the legion of Junkerpunk gutterrats, bilgebums and seadogs? And once the party is over - who pays the bar tab at the end?
Our event takes place loosely from Friday, February 12th - Sunday, February 14th with primary content happening from Friday, February 12th at 9pm - Saturday, February 14th at midnight.

Registration opens Monday, February 1st at 1:00pm. There will be two types of tickets offered:
Text-Content Only Ticket/Non Attending Ticket
This ticket type is not capped. This is the ticket to buy if you just want to purchase build for the event, or do non-mod content (and Grab Bag perks if purchased).
This ticket allows you to participate in soft-roleplay channels, OOC channels, access to our text adventures, videos, and other multimedia content. It also provides access to any general channel puzzles, minigames, and more.
Additionally, if there are mod slots with open seats at the time of the mod start, then Text Content Ticket holders are welcome to join. This ticket type still has the option to earn Cali-Co Caravan Points (our loot system) through participation.
Mod-Participation Ticket
This ticket type is capped at mod capacity. This ticket allows you to sign up for 3 online voice-participation mods during our Friday & Saturday content series. Mod signup will go live on February 1st and is limited to Mod-Participation tickets only in advance.
For both ticket types, you can backbuy extra XP, but cannot backbuy items earned.

How do I craft/trade/sell things?
To simplify the logistical burden of virtual events, everyone has the ability to earn the same amount of Cali*Co Caravan points which are then converted to items, currency, and resources just for participating in our content. Please see the Cali*Co Caravan Points section of this post further down for more info.
What are Tags and Pips?
Throughout the event, a character may acquire temporary equipment, powers, or consumables in the form of Pips or Tags. Events may also provide players with the opportunity to craft Pips and Tags outside of mods.
A “Pip” is a one-time use item that adds +1 to any STAT roll. Narratively, these expendables are often grenades, drugs, or flashes of borrowed power. The use of a Pip to augment a roll must be declared before the roll is made. No STAT roll may benefit from more than one pip.
A “Tag” is an adjective noted in [brackets] on the character’s sheet for the duration of a Bones event. When a character gains a tag, that character may treat the tag as an additional achievement for the purposes of spending mind points when taking actions related to the [tag]. Narratively, Tags represent specialized equipment and knowledge the character has gained throughout the event.Example Tags: “[Explosive], [Attuned], [Researched], [Superheated], [Shielded]”
At the end of each Bones event, all Tags and unused Pips are lost, these items do not carry over.

Virtual Mod Signup
Starting on Monday, February 1st you will be able to see and signup for mods through your database login at https://characters.dystopiarisingnetwork.com/events. Each Mod-Participation ticket-holding player may sign up for three mods initially. If there are open seats on other mods before they start, the STs will put out an all-call in the discord channel for last-minute alternates. If you fill a seat last-minute, it does not count as one of your three mods.
Mod schedule is subject to change, so please check your mod schedule occasionally to ensure you’re signed up for the appropriate number of mods of your choosing.

Cali*Co Caravan Points
Our virtual events are primarily aimed at roleplay and story, but we understand that for some, economic and crafting play is most enjoyable. While Lonestar Skies events do not provide traditional crafting opportunities or check-in skills, you are still able to earn resources and currency by engaging in the various parts of our event and then converting those experiences into Cali*Co Caravan Points.
After the event ends, a survey will go up that will ask you to indicate what you did for each of the main 10+ hours of content time. More engagement = more ability to earn Cali*Co Caravan Points. These are points you get for engaging content and your fellow players throughout the day that can be spent to generate things like items, prints, and story opportunities.
When we return to live games, Cali*Co Caravan Points may be spent at Check-in. If you are not a local DR:TX player, our logistics coordinator can work with you to have those items assigned to your character in the National Database before your next Live Event.

The maximum number of CCP an individual can earn per event is capped at 30. We’re making the choice to standardize this because we think it is the most elegant and honest way to evoke the generation of resources in a setting/environment where we don’t have the same resources as when we are running live events. Storytellers are not individually empowered to give you extra CCP - but they are definitely empowered and expected to give you story rewards and consequences that affect the live playspace.

Lonestar Skies: Hearthbound
“To the people of the San Saba Territories and those visitors graced with being in its bountiful lands,
Nearly a year has passed since my last letter, and those of us on the Widow’s Peak have so much to share with you all.
This year provided us with an extra abundance of livestock early in the season. Too many, frankly, for us to handle appropriately. Thankfully, Clauthia Lovelace is a fine woman of good works, and she and her people were able to spread the wealth to several needy families across the San Saba territories.
Our church, under the inspired hand of Immacula Lovelace, has seen a recent expansion to the building. It is of simple design, and fine quality, and has provided extra room for worship and care. It will provide a safe place to ward against the cold; both of the spirit and the flesh.
Hard work in the soil through the growing season, and a light burning season, have provided us with a silo near bursting at the seams. Even with charitable works, we truly have an abundance. Saying bountiful would almost seem to be boasting, but we have been blessed, and blessedly able to share.
Because of these things - The grace of our bountiful harvest, the space of our comforting spaces, and the charitable nature of our family - we extend an invitation.
Come join us for the Winter Lights Festival, here upon the Peak.
Candlelight and hearth fires, songs and prayer, offerings to those who have come before, and remembrance that family is what keeps us strong and together; these are the things that will see us through the cold and dark. These will be the things that keep us safe from the predations of the Longwalkers.

Lonestar Skies: Justicalia
Content Warning: The themes of this event can and will brush against the experiences of the real world. This event involves themes of incarceration, a flawed justice system, prison violence, and NPCs that run the gamut of criminal experience from innocence to homicidal guilt. We understand these stories are not for everyone and encourage anyone who does not want to engage with these themes to purchase a non-attending ticket.
Our Good Home Prudence Penitentiary for the Peregrine and Penalized, often pilloried as Killhouse, plays host to three species of detained individuals.
The first of which is the Penitent; the annual congregants of Killhouse who, by breach or break, via the Gauntlet or at the long end of a Lawdog’s gun - finds their way to the expansive General Population wings of the only incarceratory force in the San Saba Territories. Each year they are, in October, expunged of their sins and expelled into the Lonestar as new and freshly pressed as a churchgoers best - redeemed by Our Lady Tabitha St. Mercy, Warden of Killhouse.
The second species of detained is the Lifer, those truly reprehensible few who have earned a life sentence at Killhouse - for as long as their wretched durations might last. These dolorous and ill-starred maniacs who are the beating and fetid heart of Prudence’s purpose lie in the vaunted XXX Wing where they are not allowed to die - as for the Lifers of Killhouse - death means freedom.
The third species of incarcerated that Our Good Home plays host to is a temporary one; driven to her hermetically-sealed halls by the promise of an old-world ventilation system. This third species is You, Brave Survivor.
Hellbent as you are to outrun the screaming cloud of death pouring from of the cracked and broken ground beneath new Bravado and spreading with terrifying rapidity across the face of the Lonestar Wastes - you must make it to Killhouse, the only promise within a hundred miles, of maintaining the unruptured state of your breathing organs and bastion of the most dangerous criminals in the contiguous San Saba.
And there the Warden of Killhouse, entrenched in her own traditions and on the eve of the Indulgence, will welcome you inside with the caveat that you must be canonized as her Justices on this day of holy work and earn your clean and unkilling air by honoring her praxis and redeeming those who seek it - and damning to darkness the unyielding few who make her infernal jailhouse necessary.

Additionally we are changing the schedule to allow for more mod series, but fewer mods on each, to keep mod capacity more full and give people more time to enjoy the soft rp rooms!

Special Scene Grab Bag (Limited):
Access to a Grab Bag group scene run by Aesa (approximately one hour). This grab bag is sold in bundles priced for 5 players (though fewer folks is fine) and include all the above for the characters involved for a set time slot. We recognize that scenes in the virtual space haven’t given a lot of in-character time for inter-personal angst and drama with your close friends, and you might feel weird playing out those themes on a mod or in the soft RP rooms with a bunch of people who didn’t sign up for that. This is your opportunity for those sorts of scenes that can include as much or little mechanics and combat as you opt into. Signups for these closed-group grab bags will close 10/28 to allow for prep time and communication with the GM.

Cali*Co Caravan Points
Our virtual events are primarily aimed at roleplay and story, but we understand that for some, economic and crafting play is most enjoyable. While Lonestar Skies events do not provide traditional crafting opportunities or check-in skills, you are still able to earn resources and currency by engaging in the various parts of our event and then converting those experiences into Cali*Co Caravan Points.
After the event ends, a survey will go up that will ask you to indicate what you did for each of the main 10+ hours of content time. More engagement = more ability to earn Cali*Co Caravan Points. These are points you get for engaging content and your fellow players throughout the day that can be spent to generate things like items, prints, and story opportunities.
When we return to live games, Cali*Co Caravan Points may be spent at Check-in. If you are not a local DR:TX player, our logistics coordinator can work with you to have those items assigned to your character in the National Database before your next Live Event.

The maximum number of CCP an individual can earn per event is capped at 30. We’re making the choice to standardize this because we think it is the most elegant and honest way to evoke the generation of resources in a setting/environment where we don’t have the same resources as when we are running live events. Storytellers are not individually empowered to give you extra CCP - but they are definitely empowered and expected to give you story rewards and consequences that affect the live playspace.

Game Update - Late Night Edition!
Coming at you LIVE from my bathtub it’s the Late Night Pre-Game Blog Post! We’ve got some snazzy updates to fill you in on some story beats, mechanics updates, and final HYPE before we get into game tomorrow!
So lemme just precariously balance my laptop on the edge of this tub and let’s get started!
Tags and Pips and INVENTIONS!
This is a new concept for Bravado Bones! Tags and Pips let you do two different things - one enhances a roll and the other functions like having an extra achievement on your sheet. If you purchased a Grab Bag, you get to come into game with a [tag] already on your Bravado Bones character sheet. There will also be ways to earn [tags] through roleplay and crafting!
Here’s the crunchy details:
Throughout the event, a character may acquire temporary equipment, powers, or consumables in the form of Pips or Tags. Events may also provide players with the opportunity to craft Pips and Tags outside of mods.
A “Pip” is a one-time use item that adds +1 to any STAT roll. Narratively, these expendables are often grenades, drugs, or flashes of borrowed power. The use of a Pip to augment a roll must be declared before the roll is made. No STAT roll may benefit from more than one pip.
A “Tag” is an adjective noted in [brackets] on the character’s sheet for the duration of a Bones event. When a character gains a tag, that character may treat the tag as an additional achievement for the purposes of spending mind points when taking actions related to the [tag]. Narratively, Tags represent specialized equipment and knowledge the character has gained throughout the event.Example Tags: “[Explosive], [Attuned], [Researched], [Superheated], [Shielded]”
At the end of each Bones event, all Tags and unused Pips are lost, these items do not carry over.
Furthermore, there are a few key CRAFTING MECHANICS (culinary, artisan, and medical) that will be available in the soft (text) roleplay areas of the server this event! These mechanics are in addition to our standard Cali*co Caravan Points (aka, you still get your actual game loot), but the time spent roleplaying can count for both concurrently. Room Stewards can help you with tracking crafting times in these designated areas on the server.

So while your spiffy crafted items won’t create new exclusive Lonestar Blueprints or physical cards, you are warmly encouraged to play up talking about your cool invention, creation, or wasteland staple - find ways to manifest it in the play space, and generally just riff off of this crazy wild science fair that no one really understands. In fact, it would be REALLY cool if you showed up at the INVENTOR’S GALA Friday night at 10pm to do just that!

Story Beats
Some of you may remember our catastrophic romp through the city of Essex in the early summer. Now we’re a few months along and things have been happening. Here’s some of the main things you will want to use to inform your roleplay as we kick off Bravado 3.0 Season Two!
Contracts and the start of a new season
It was always our intention to allow for contracts to be reset every September at the start of a new season. We know that sometimes the stories we want to tell can change, and for this reason, the majority of contracts signed in 3.0 Season 1 were only meant to last one year. Some folks elected to tell stories of longer contracts, and that’s super fine. Now that we are entering 3.0 Season 2, all contracts are considered expired unless you want them to continue.
This is a personal roleplay choice - we pushed you hard to buy into the story of contracts in 3.0 Season 1 to help us cement our setting. Now we are telling the next phase of this story, and there are entities in the wastes who are very much anti-contracts and we want you to be able to engage with their stories as well. So if you want to tell a story where your character is still bound by words and ink on paper to something they’ve committed to, great! But if you want to say that your character’s contract has ended, that’s also great!
You can expect that the main NPC factions you know and love in Bravado will have differing opinions on this matter and we encourage you to discover those viewpoints in the play space.
Waking and The San Saba Board
Waking hangs in the skies over the San Saba Territories like a dripping, industrial thunderhead. Gestalt, this city is made up of the weary remains of thousands of smaller airship vessels, dissolved wholesale and channeled into a mighty floating city whose attitude shares its namesake - Waking; The Shining and Sleepless.
Waking’s history is shrouded at best, and utterly inscrutable at its worst thanks to the concerted efforts of its citizenry to build atop itself until the past is rendered a derelict foundation for the gleaming and new. The city beneath it, also called Waking, is one of the oldest settlements in the Lonestar Wastes and now - with the formation of the board, the oldest city in the San Saba Territories.
But the Waking that floats above, for clarity’s sake often referred to as Waking Prime, has flown only for the better part of a year. Some time before the launch of the Oxline, the first of the Conglomerate’s public works, the floating city made its maiden and only takeoff into the cloud layer. In the eighteen or so months since its ascent, the land directly beneath the city has been rendered a desert to rival the Dune Sea of the South.
The robust technology Waking uses to stay afloat, a hundred different energy sources passing through the arcane geometries of The Capacity Engine; the mechanism that feeds the monolithic and mortal engines that propel the city’s fifteen hundred stabilizing jets, creates such sulphurous byproduct that the runoff - which secretes from every seeping joint of the city’s vast hull, has poisoned the lands below and rendered the fields fallow and unlivable.
While the gleaming crown of Waking, Eureka, a tower so high and pristine as to belong in a different era of the world, beams archly out over the wastes of the San Saba - its inhabitants are still unable to see the filth for all the filigree.
In the Boardroom at the penthouse level of Eureka, the most powerful personalities in the Lonestar scheme and schism - while below in the gleaming streets of the Magnolia District the first ever Waste’s Fair is being held in celebration of the Merger between the Railroad Commission and the Conglomerate - and the formation of the San Saba Board.
But the smell of ozone and rainwater stirs on the horizon - and the gleaming visors of Stormchasers peek out from behind the stormwall - and bear down on the Shining City with all the fervor of a moth seeking a lonely and lurid flame.
THE INVENTOR’S BALL
Honorable denizens of Waking, temporary and permanent, consider the following proclamation the debut of the Inventor’s Ball! A greater invitation is cordially extended to those who have received intact timepieces with emerald, Ursuline, seals. These “big and little silver spoon” timepieces were issued to only an elite few. Exclusivity ensures the best Inventoria: inventors, debutantes, and people of worth are therefore invited to a cocktail hour in the Ursuline Ballroom, at the foot of the decadent Eureka Tower. Additionally, a keynote speech is rumored from the Chairman of the Board themself--perhaps delivered to attendees amongst the Lonestar hors d'oeuvres and charcuterie.
The Ursuline foyer, when necessary, is available for social overflow, backdraft, and coat storage.
Woah, what does that all mean??? Well I’ll tell you! Those who purchased a September Grab Bag have in-character received the aforementioned “commemorative” timepiece and invitation for some reason and will receive access to a special roleplay area on the Lonestar Skies discord server where the gala will take place. Kick-off the weekend via a soft-rp Inventor’s Ball at 10pm Friday with some sneak previews of events to come when we hit our main storyline on Saturday. Only those with the ‘pocket watch’ role on their discord handle may enter this Ballroom, however everyone can roleplay in the foyer with or without a grab bag. Characters of interest will be schmoozed, tea will be sipped, and the setting introduced! Rumors aplenty for these changing times in Waking, the Shining City. Won’t you join us?
