Howdy Howdy!
Season 5 is shaping up to be an awesome season! And as DR:TX does, we are always making changes on our backend to make the gameplay experience run more smoothly for everyone! So hold tight while I catch up on the logistics changes that will affect you!
Post office hours
The new schedule looks like this.
Friday 10pm- Saturday 2am.
Saturday 10am-Sunday 2am.
Sunday 8am-12pm.
We’ve changed our NPC hours to begin at 10am on Saturday morning, so the Post Office is going to honor that change for the time being and see if it works.
We’ll also be spreading out our staff a little differently to accommodate heavy post office times. We’ll be adjusting this over the season so the PO best serves you as well as fits our staffing needs! So we’re happy to hear feedback about which hours you use the post office the most, when you experienced the most wait times, and if you have positive ideas to streamline this process!
Be gracious, we’re trying new things together!
New check-in hours
We're also slightly adjusting check-in hours this season. Starting in September, folks who pre-registered can check-in at 5pm. General check-in will open at 6pm. We'll pause check-in for announcements at 9pm, and then resume afterwards. This extra hours gives a buffer for the check-in team in case LARP happens. We want to make sure we're organized and prepared to serve you, and we think that extra hour will benefit everyone.
New Check-In Hours:
Pre-Reg 5pm - 10pm
General 6pm - 10pm
Opening Announcements 9pm (check-in will be paused)
For late check-ins after 10pm, we ask you contact Amber, Joscelyn, or Ren. A two-way radio is conveniently located at the Post Office. Just let them know you need to check-in and they will reach out to us. If you've pre-registered, our window staff can provide you with your sheet/packet without needing to contact us.
If you are a new player and expect to arrive after 10pm, please consider sending an email to info@dystopiarisingtx.com so that we can get you checked-in and connect you to our new player guides as soon as you arrive.
sticker system
This season So:Cal was kind enough to share their Post Office system with us. This will allow us to print stickers for the backs of cards instead of having to hand write them. We’re hopeful that this will cut down on wait times!
Once again, we’re learning a new way of doing things together; so be kind and gracious to your local postal worker while they adapt to new things!
lit cash out
DR:TX will emptying all of our players LIT inventories by Jan 1st 2024.
So over the next few episodes we will be making space to help you cash out your LIT items. Amber will be setting up during certain times for each event, so you’ll need to come find her to have you LIT cashed out.
In September, Amber will be casing out LIT during these times:
Friday 8pm-9pm (in or around the post office)
Siesta (in the little cubby office in the Depot)
I’ll cash out LIT on a first come, first serve basis.
If you want a copy of your LIT printed out so you can use the items from that sheet, please see the PO office worker anytime during the event.
online game grab bag cashout
If you’re a local player and purchased a grab bag for our event “The Undying Prince;” you can pick up your cards between 5pm-10pm in or around the PO. We sent an email to grab bag folks asking them to tell us their preferred weapon augment blue print. If you didn’t get this email, send us an email and let us know so we can have it ready for you at Check-In.
camp name updates
The Girl Scout camp where we host our game is changing their name. They will also be renaming all of the buildings and locations on camp. Our ranger Rafiki will provide us with a list of the updated name by the end of the month. We’ll continue to use the names we are familiar with until we get the updated list, but be on the look out for it!
med sleep/ooc sleep
DR:TX has designated Wigwam as dedicated med sleep. This bunk is first come first served, but we ask that you be considerate of your friends that need med sleep as priority for this space. If the med sleep fills up and you still need OOC/Med Sleep, please come find me (Amber) and I’ll sign off on your sheet that you will need to be able to sleep OOC.
Waivers
It’s a new season, so that means we’re going to ask you to sign waivers again! So make sure that you sign one when you pick up your packet for check in. Our standard liability waiver hasn’t changed, but we have updated our Covid Policy which I will talk about below.
covid-19 policy
DR:TX will no longer request proof of vaccination or a negative test to attend the event. To maintain health and safety we recommend the following:
Get vaccinated. Stay up to date on any new booster vaccinations that you can get.
Wash your hands and practice good hygiene
Do not come to the event if you are feeling unwell. Leave the event if you start to feel unwell.
Take a precautionary Covid test before and after the event.
As an incentive to promote community health we will offer 50 Caps if you email us proof that you obtained a flu shot this year!
emergency proceedures
We’ll go over this verbally in opening announcements, but let’s do short recap of our emergency procedures.
All emergencies should be escalated to a staff member immediately. A guide will know the quickest way to get in touch with the Directors. Please make sure that Jonathan and Amber are able to be present. We have a medical/safety team that has volunteered to respond to emergencies, they have special badges that identify them.
When in doubt, call 911 and follow their instructions.
opening announcements
Opening announcements begin promptly at 9pm on Friday of the event. They are held on the front porch of Kiva/The General Store.
It’s important that you plan to attend these announcements— even if you have attended them before. We’ll go over all our safety and logistics rules again, and everyone should get a refresher each season.
