March Update 2.0

Good Thursday, Survivors!

This post comes to you in two parts. We’re going to get the unfun stuff out of the way first - so stay tuned for PLOT. We are staying up to date on information with Covid-19. We are still holding our March event and we do not have plans to suspend or cancel future events yet.

Large events do represent an increased risk for community spread. We are all watching events, schools, and conferences canceled which host many thousands of people. While we might be large for a larp, we are still quite small in the scheme of event-planning. In some respects we are closer to a small conference or symposium in terms of population, duration, and human contact. We are looking at those rather than comparing ourselves to SXSW for instance. If social distancing measures increase then we will seriously consider altering or canceling events. We are not there yet. If the situation warrants, then we will go there.

All that being said, there are things we can all do to mitigate the risk of infection. If you are sick, please stay home. You have heard a hundred reminders to wash your hands. Please wash your hands. Additionally…

1.      If you see that a bathroom has run out of paper towels or soap please tell us so we can get more.

2.      Please use make-up wedges/applicators ONCE if dipping in a communal container. That means coat the wedge, put it on your face, then throw it away. Don’t double dip. We will also have a number of tiny paper cups you can use to put a reasonable amount of makeup in to apply to your own face.

3.      Please help us to keep high contact surfaces clean. Kitchen counters, work stations, etc. If you can't find a cleaner and think a surface needs cleaning, ask staff or a guide to help you find some.

4.      If you need a break from shambles, please please please help us clean. Clean make-up, wiping down surfaces, wiping down brawler handles, and doing laundry will help keep everyone healthy.

5.      Get enough sleep! Lack of sleep will tank your immune system. Take a nap if you need one, go to bed when you’re tired, sleep in if your body needs it.

6.      Do not skip meals! And please consider eating healthy meals instead of surviving on pocket cheese and cupcakes.

Okay! That’s the stuff we MUST say to feel good about having done our due-diligence to keep our pals healthy. You’re grownups, all of you. So let’s make grownup calls about our health. Secondly! Game is tomorrow - Hell yeah!

To that end here’s some juicy new lore it’d be good to know for the weekend upcoming. This month the Tribes Disparate will be coming together for their yearly summit - hosted by the RRC itself. Thirteen tribes coming from across the wastes to discuss and plan and...who knows what else. “But!” You might exclaim, “Shan! We haven’t been TOLD what the thirteen tribes are. We only know NINE of them!”

To which I reply “Until now, bucky-fuckos.” Check out this link to the Tribes Disparate page and take a peek at the newly revealed players in this month’s plot. You’ll have lots of mobility to address their standing inside the Tribes Disparate, their relationship with the Township Bravado and what our intertwining story looks like going forward. So study up, kids. Spring is upon us, time of growth and change. Let’s tell a cool story about it.

——

She is our Holy Mother Queen,

Bearer of the Antler’d Crown.

Who warred for peace and always sought,

The chance to put her scepter down.

The Cervaxi held her up on high,

While the Torchlight shone from down Below,

The Longberths bore her on their boats,

Mighty row by mighty row.

The Rabbits begged for peace and trade,

And so Ox Killers did make it so,

While the Sweetwaters turned that great big Wheel,

All the way to Cali*Co.

The Ja Cintos ranged and found ripe land,

That Scadians thought good as their own,

Which The Local 727,

Did render a new and lasting home.

The Cloudskippers took the Queen above,

To the skies above her brow,

So that the Curators could record wisely,

That none before and none do now,

Rival Jasper in her rule,

In her merit, measure or might,

May she live forever always,

Holy Mother dressed in White.

March Updates

Hello friends! A few updates.

COVID-19 and DR:TX

Currently it is our intention to still hold game and if that changes we will let you know asap. We do encourage those who feel they are at risk or immunocompromised to use their own best judgement for their health and safety. Anyone who wants to change their ticket to a non-attending ticket should contact us so we can re-do your check-in. info@dystopiarisingtx.com is the email. If you checked in without a ticket and decide not to come, let us know so we can take you off your NPC shift.

We have checked with the campsite to ensure lots of soap is on hand in the bathrooms. We have ordered extra makeup wipes, makeup, and applicators so that we will be able to prevent cross contamination. Here are a few things you can do to help yourself reduce the risk of getting sick:

  • 30-60 seconds of hand washing with soap anytime you may have been exposed to contaminated surfaces like door handles, bathrooms, etc.

  • Don't share things that have been in/on other people's mouths or faces. Like cups, food, makeup wipes, etc. Please get a new makeup applicator or wedge instead of double-dipping. We ordered extra for this purpose! If we run low, let staff know and we'll go buy more.

  • We'll have some multi-surface cleaner in ops for wiping down weapon handles and masks at the end of each shift.

  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough. Bring your own hand sanitizer but still use soap regularly as it's more effective. Try and keep from touching your own face or mouth as much as possible.

  • If you are feeling crummy and decide to leave, let us know.

  • Shower, eat, and sleep regularly so that you are well rested. LARP can tank immune systems when we stop taking care of ourselves. Please be smart about overextending your body's reserves. Shower to prevent becoming human viral soup in your costuming.

  • Even with novel coronavirus going around, our good old friends the regular cold, sinus infections, and allergies are still around too. Let's respond reasonably to folks who happen to sneeze once in a while ;)

XP Buy Up and Back Buy

Those of you involved in the larger DR community have probably already read this blog update from Kyle (the owner of Dystopia Rising franchise). http://www.dystopiarisinglarp.com/news/2020/3/5/the-return-of-buybacks-and-additional-xp

Basically, 3.0 now supports additional XP purchases and event buyback retroactive to the start of 3.0 (Sept 2019).

Beginning in April, players will be able to check-in with additional XP online. We have added the XP buy up option to our online storefront to go live when tickets for April go on sale next Tuesday at 1pm. You can also purchase extra XP at the door on site starting at our April event.

Note:

  • You can only purchase extra XP for an event you have already purchased a ticket for.

  • You can only purchase extra XP for travel events you attended. Contact each chapter to arrange payment directly, not through DR:TX.

  • If you are backbuying XP, just email us directly so we can send you a custom invoice total. That email is info@dystopiarisingtx.com

Reminder of Game Schedule

This is your reminder that we moved up our start time on Fridays!

  • Gates open at 3pm

  • Pre-reg opens at 4pm

  • Reg line opens at 5pm

  • New Player Guides are on hand starting at 6pm in the breezeway off of the Kitchen

  • Announcements are outside of Ops/Dining Hall at 7pm

  • Game on, first NPC shift, and New Player mod all start at 8pm

Everything else should be the same overall. See a guide if you have questions!

Blue Hue Goo

Clarification on the use of "Blue Hue Goo"

As per the most recent clarification in other channels, wearing Blue Hue Goo means you are a "universal receiver" of faith calls as it were, *not* a "universal donor". You must still pick one faith when calling out the call, e.g. "hedon" not "all faiths", but those wearing the blue hue goo would receive it as well even if they are not currently members of the Hedon faith, as though they are temporarily members of all faiths.

Game Schedule Shift!

New Check-in system

Hello friends! We hope you've had a wonderful and restful holiday season! This is your reminder that tickets for DR:TX Episode Five - “Path of the Sun” will go on sale this Tuesday, January 7th at 1:00pm!

Also, our check-in system has changed and you will now see a helpful walk through on how to check-in for events through the database on our registration page. Online check-in will also open on the 7th and if you have any issues, let us know!

If you haven't logged on to the database in the last week, now is the time to do so as most people will need to reset their password following some updates made to the system. If you have trouble getting the password reset, email us at info@dystopiarisingtx.com.
