DRL Database Updates!

Good morning!

Today marks the official start of the new DR Live system, as we have now fully transitioned the database to the new system. Early this morning, our Network team updated the server so you can now fully create DR Live characters for the new edition. However, this update does mean we need to ask a bit of homework from each of you to help get ready for our next event.

TL;DR: You gotta remake all your characters.

This isn’t super complicated to do, but I’ve prepared this step-by-step guide to complete this process.

Step 1: Log onto the Juno Database

You can access the database at the new permanent address of https://db.larp.network/.

You’ll need to log in as normal, but if you have any issues here, please feel free to contact us at info@dystopiarisingtx.com. Brand new players will still need to have their account and player number created by a member of staff.

Step 2: Select the “Manage” Button on the left side menu

You’ll find this option at the top of the list of every character slot assigned to your player number.

You’ll see up to three normal “Staged” slots (if you had an Advanced Membership), and several “Experimental” slots on the side. These slots have collected every XP you’ve earned over the history of your play plus the starting 50 XP you earn as a new DR Live character. The Experimental slots are the copies of your current DR Live characters, if you have attended a live or virtual event.

Step 3: Choose a Character to update

You should see the orange box warning that you have no ‘active characters’ currently in the database. As part of the transition to the DR live ruleset, we had to reset the Active slots for every player in the network. You’ll to reassign which characters you want to be your new active slots. This is a great time to consider a new alt or make some changes to your existing characters, as any edits after being switched to Active will require a staff member to unlock your character.

Any character you had previously built as an Experimental character has been moved to a separate “Staged” category, so you can still use these to see your previous DR Live builds. Note, the Experimental Slots will be deleted on April 29th, so you only have a limited window to use these files to update your main account.

Step 4: Copy an Experimental Character to your Blank Character Slot

Click on one your Experimental Characters and it will take you into the character edit screen. If you are happy with your selections on your character, you can simply copy it to a Staged slot and continue editing from there.

Click the “Copy Build To” button, select the character slot you’d like to overwrite, and then choose the “Execute” button.

Once you’ve copied it over to the Staged slot, you’ll be able to make edits by clicking the “LOCK” button in the upper right corner

NOTE: In early attempts that I did on the database, it didn’t copy the Strain Variants over properly. You’ll have to edit this on the Staged version of the character later, but this bug may be fixed by time you try this yourself.

Step 5: Lock your build and “Activate” your characters

Using the “Manage” button on the left hand side of the menu, you can return back to your list of all of your characters on the databse to choose and active your chosen slots.

On each your Staged characters, you can click the drop down “Actions” button to reveal two choices - Activate or Destroy. Please don’t destroy your characters, as this is a PERMANENT action. There’s a few fail safes here to prevent accidents, but it’s worth the warning anyways.

Once you “Activate” the character, it will be eligible to be checked in for the next DR Live event as normal. Once the character has been Activated, you won’t be able to edit them without Staff help. If you need to make an edit for some reason before the event, you’ll need to email the staff to unlock and Stage your character once more.

That’s it!

It’s a pretty simple process, but I’m a visual learner so I like to share some idea of what the process looks like. You’ll need to make sure you’ve activated your characters before you can check into the Database, so plan some time to complete this process before our May event, THE POLITICS OF ANARCHY. We’ll have a few more reminders before then, so don’t worry.

See you soon, Vados!
